    Detailed Product Description
Product Name: Preformed Guy Grip Material: Material Aluminum Clad Steel
Surface Treatment: Hot Dip Galvanized Type: Dead End Type
Standard: Standard ASTM Cable Diameter: Cable Diameter 8mm
Strand Type: Extra High Strength Strand Application: Overhead Transmission Line

Heavy Duty Big Guy Grip for 1/2” to 7/8” Guy Strand and Static Wire Systems

    Tool-less Installation. Maximum Holding Power.
The Yokelink Preformed Big Guy Grip Dead End is designed to terminate galvanized steel guy strands on utility poles and communication towers. It replaces traditional bolted clamps by providing an easier, faster, and more uniform installation that requires absolutely no tools.

    Advanced Helical Gripping Technology:
Manufactured from high-tensile galvanized steel wire, the helical rods are designed to wrap perfectly around the guy strand. The interior of the grip is coated with a specialized gritted compound (abrasive grit). When tension is applied, the radial pressure increases, allowing the grip to lock onto the cable with a force that meets or exceeds 100% of the strand's rated breaking strength, without causing any stress concentration or strand damage.

    Color-Coded for Precision:
Each Yokelink Big Guy Grip is marked with a durable Color Code and a crossover mark to indicate the exact starting point for installation, making size identification quick and error-free for linemen in the field. Fully compatible with standard thimble eye nuts and anchor rods.

Production Process of Big Guy Grip

High-strength galvanized steel wires are cut to fixed lengths and cold formed into helical shapes. Multiple formed wires are bundled and bonded with special adhesive, then inner surfaces are coated with grit to boost friction. After integral shaping and bending, finished products go through hot-dip galvanizing for anti-rust treatment. Finally, strict tensile performance and dimensional inspections are conducted before packaging.

Yokelink Quality Control and Testing Equipments for Big Guy Grip

We don't just reference FF-C-450 standards; we also verify them in practice: each batch of products undergoes destructive tensile testing in our internal laboratory to ensure load performance exceeds the minimum requirements of ASME B30.26. IEEE C135.2 or CSA C83 specification; we use optical comparators to ensure the geometric accuracy of chamfered tips and rolled threads, enabling convenient on-site installation; at the same time, we conduct comprehensive testing on Rockwell hardness, coating thickness, and other parameters, and each shipment is accompanied by the original manufacturer's material specifications (MTRs) and quality inspection reports, with all data traceable back to the raw material furnace number.

    Application of Big Guy Grip

Big Guy grip is widely used in overhead power lines and communication tower guying systems. It firmly fastens guy wires without damaging cables, providing stable tension fixation. Featuring strong gripping force and anti-slip performance, it fits various wire specifications. With good corrosion resistance, it adapts to all outdoor environments, ensuring safe and reliable operation of pole and tower facilities.

    Yokelink Product Quality Inspection Report

We provide comprehensive inspection services for machine bolts, including SGS test bolts and formal Production Part Inspect Report (PPIR). The SGS tests verify the bolts’ compliance with international standards like ASTM A307 and IEEE C135.80, covering mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The PPIR details all inspection items, ensuring each machine bolt meets dimensional, performance and quality requirements, providing reliable quality assurance for overhead line and industrial applications.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: How does a tool-less Big Guy Grip hold massive line tension safely?
Industrial Grade Guy Grip for Power Line and Telecom Infrastructure

A: The secret lies in the combination of helical design and internal friction. As the preformed rods are wrapped around the guy wire, they apply a continuous, uniform radial gripping force. Furthermore, the interior of the Yokelink Big Guy Grip is coated with a premium abrasive grit. When tension pulls on the cable, the grip tightens itself further, preventing slippage while eliminating point-stress that can pinch or break the wires.

Q2: What do the different color codes on Big Guy Grips indicate?

A: The color codes are a critical safety and identification feature. Each color corresponds to a specific nominal guy strand diameter (e.g., Black for 5/16", Orange for 3/8"). This allows linemen to instantly verify that the grip matches the cable size in the field, preventing catastrophic mismatched installations under high overhead tension.

Q3: Can a Preformed Big Guy Grip be reused if a pole is relocated?

A: It is highly discouraged by utility engineering standards. During the first installation, the helical wires conform to the exact layout of the strand, and the internal abrasive grit beds into the cable. Removing and reapplying the grip can distort the helical pitch and wear down the grit, significantly reducing its holding efficiency on the second use. Always use a new Big Guy Grip for a new installation.

Q4: Is it necessary to use a Thimble when installing a Big Guy Grip?

A: Yes, absolutely. The loop end (the loop at the top of the "Y") of the Big Guy Grip must always be supported by a smooth, curved surface to prevent the wire from distorting under stress. It must be hooked around a Wire Rope Thimble, a Thimble Eye Nut, or a Thimble Eye Bolt. Wrapping the loop directly around a sharp edge or narrow pin will ruin the grip's structural integrity.

Q5: Can these Big Guy Grips be used on ADSS or OPGW fiber optic cables?

A: Standard galvanized steel Big Guy Grips are designed specifically for heavy steel guy wire strands. Fiber optic cables (like ADSS) have a much softer outer jacket and require specialized ADSS Dead End Grips, which feature different helical pitches and layer combinations (often including a layer of structural reinforcing rods) to protect the sensitive glass fibers inside from being crushed.
